Marahau in the beautiful and picturesque Abel Tasman National Park is fast becoming a sought-after area for a holiday home. This Bach for Gary & Nicki is the first new house in the subdivision, 5 mins walk from the beach. The section has views to the national park in the west and has native bush at the rear of the section.

The bach had to be a modern, contemporary design, be compact and was to have a second shower and toilet in the separate garage so that family could stay in tents or the garage when the adults were in the house. The house needed to be elevated so that the view to the sea could be enjoyed. It also needed to be light and airy with indoor outdoor flow, making the most of the view and sun but being sheltered from the sea breeze that comes in later in the day. As this is a bach close to the sea, low maintenance materials were requested. The Ceiling was to have timber and exposed rafters.
